Baroque festival

Saturday I attended the 19th annual Evergreen Philharmonic Orchestra Baroque Festival and enjoyed it immensely. Lindsey played the Brandenburg Concerto Number 5 in a trio with Emily Hutchings on Violin, and Marvin Cheng on Harpsichord. That of course was the highlight of the program for me. Lindsey played beautifully and the venue was perfect for flute. It was wide open and made her flute lyrically float in the air. Marvin played an amazing piece on the harpsichord that was almost unbelievably complex. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a concert more. Other memorable concerts were the first Evergreen concert I ever attended the first time Lindsey played. The music they played that night was nothing short of astonishing and inspirational. Another was the annual halleluia chorus at Skyline high with full orchestral complement and members of the audience joining in. Powerful stuff.
Other notable performances at the Baroque Festival were Serena Eduljee. Look for her name in lights soon and Agnus Dei from the Mass in G. This was a first class concert and showed off the performers enormous talent.
This is Lindsey's bio as published in the program:
Lindsey Haselden, Flute
Lindsey, now a Junior at Liberty High School, began playing flute in 6th grade when she decided that the violin just wasn't for her. She later went on to play in the Pine Lake Middle School Band all three years, Skyline High School band for two, and has played in Evergreen Philharmonic for almost two years. During her sophomore year, she was accepted to participate in the WMEA All State Band, and participates in their annual regional Solo Ensemble contest each year. In addition to taking an active role in her school music programs, she has also been a student of Jennifer Mahaffey for the past 6 years.

Lindsey hopes to continue at BYU Provo in flute, music history and education.

Good job Lindsey!
