A little catch
Simple pleasures often pass by unnoticed. Saturday, Tyson and I had "fun" cleaning the gutters and power washing the decks. It was messy business, but worthwhile and necessary. Tyson worked hard and was a great help. He did all the decks and even drilled a hole or two in the landscape boulders.
Later, Tyson asked if we could play some catch. We threw the football until my arm practically fell off. It was rainy outside, but no big deal. We were already pretty wet from the earlier activities. It was simple enjoyment to play catch with my son. (My boy!)
I've been traveling so much recently, I've missed my family. Just the simple pleasures of kissing the girls before going to work in the morning, reading to them before bed time, playing catch, hearing about dates, listening to their stories of the previous day and family prayer.
I was thinking this morning how much I enjoy being a father and having a family. I was also thinking how quickly it's passing by and a touch of loneliness crept in as I thought about the day when the kids move away.
